Can my skin get irritated by the strap?

Yes, but there are no substances in the strap (e.g. latex) or the buckles (e.g. nickel) that can cause allergic reactions. However, the skin may react to being covered and under pressure. Therefore, if you measure often, it is important to move around the strap from time to time and not to tighten it too much. Furthermore, wash the strap now and then using a mild soap solution. Rinse and dry it thoroughly before using it again. Should you still experience irritation, let the skin rest completely for a few days until you start measuring again.
